May 1-7, 2015 National Youth Week: The Town of Georgina in partnership with Jericho Youth Services will be hosting a number of exciting events for youth of all ages! For more information, view the Events Calendar or the full event descriptions on the corresponding dates below.
May 4, 2015 Youth Week - Video Games on the Big Screen: Have you ever wanted to play video games on a movie screen? Now's your chance! The Town, in partnership with Jericho Youth Services and the Gem Theatre, will be providing the opportunity for youth of all ages can come and play their favourite video games on the movie screen for FREE from 4 to 5:30 PM.
May 5, 2015 Youth Week - Bike Demos: Thanks to funding from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Georgina now has a variety of accessible bikes that can be rented out during the summer months! Come and try out the new equipment in an interactive bike demonstration at the Georgina Ice Palace (Blue Pad) from 7 to 8:30 PM.
May 6, 2015 Youth Week - Drop-In Dodgeball Tournament: Youth ages 9 to 15 are invited to take part in this tournament which will be running in place of our regular drop-in dodgeball time slot (7 to 8:30 PM) at the Georgina Gym. Teams will be made the night of, and everyone who participates will receive a prize!
May 6, 2015 Book and Boogie: Join Jill Javelosa Alvarez, York Region Early Literacy Specialist, for a fun and interactive music and movement program for 2 - 5 year olds. Time: 10:30 AM Location: Pefferlaw Branch Library. To register, please contact 705-437-1514.
May 7, 2015 Youth Week - Jericho Youth Sports Night: Youth Week celebrations wrap up with Sports Night at Keswick High School from 6 to 8 PM. Youth of all ages are invited to come and burn some energy playing different sports. One of Georgina's Lacrosse Instructors will be teaching participants about Canada's National Sport.
May 7, 2015 The Training Centre (GTTI) - WHMIS/Worker H&S: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a comprehensive national system for safe management of hazardous chemicals which is legislated by both the Federal and Provincial government. The Occupational Health and Safety Act focuses on the health and safety rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors, and employers. It also serves as a general introduction to workplace health and safety. Time: 9 AM to 2:30 PM. Cost: $25.
May 9, 2015 Georgina's Annual Swap & Sell: Join us for our Giant Garage Sale at the Georgina Ice Palace (Parking Lot) from 9 AM to 1 PM. May 9, 2015 Kinette Club of Sutton - Rain Barrel Sale: The rain barrel sale, distribution, and pick up is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Kin Community Hall in Sutton (1 Fairpark Lane). May 11-12, 2015 The Training Centre (GTTI) - First Aid/CPR: This two day course will provide participants with the basics in first aid, CPR, and defibrillator training. Participants will be certified to take responsible and appropriate action in an emergency situation. Time: 9 AM to 4 PM. Cost: $125; Recertification $75 (must be with Red Cross).
May 14, 2015 Let's Talk Inclusion - Your Insights on York Region's Diverse Communities: The Regional Municipality of York wants your perspectives on cultural diversity and inclusion in York Region. One of the sessions will be happening in Georgina on May 14 at the Peter Gzowski Library (5279 Black River Road, Sutton) from 6:30 to 9 PM. You can get involved by registering for a session, hosting your own session, joining the conversation on social media, providing feedback through the online survey, or submitting comments by email/mail/fax. May 20, 2015 NFB Film Club - Fort McMoney: The documentary uses interactive game elements to allow users to decide the city's future and attempt to responsibly develop the world's largest oil sands. Set in Fort McMurray and Athabasca in the oil sands development, directed by David Dufresne. Location: Keswick Branch Library. Time: 7 PM
May 21, 2015 The New You Tour: A motivational event with Hypnotherapist, Matt Bloom for those looking to stop smoking, lose weight, and reduce anxiety. Location: Georgina Arts Centre & Gallery. May 21, 2015 Draft Official Plan Open House: Share your comments on Georgina's Draft Official Plan from 4 to 6 PM and 7 to 9 PM at The ROC Chalet (26479 Civic Centre Road, Keswick). Each session will consist of a formal presentation followed by a discussion facilitated by the Town's Planning Division. The Draft Official Plan can be viewed online and hard copies are available at the Civic Centre and Georgina's three libraries. Information on how to submit comments is also provided. The deadline for submitting comments is July 31, 2015.
May 21, 2015 Introduction to Accounting for Business: The Town of Georgina, Georgina Chamber of Commerce, and York Small Business Enterprise Centre will be hosting a FREE seminar which will provide an overview on basic accounting information needed for business. This session will include: business structures and registration, tax requirements, revenue and expenses, cash flow, bookkeeping. Location: Georgina Chamber of Commerce (430 The Queensway S, Keswick). May 23, 2015 Georgina Salutes: It's a day for the community to honour and remember the sacrifices made by those who serve our country. Enjoy a day of non-stop music, restored military vehicles, hunger satisfying BBQ'd food, face painting for the kids, exhibitions from re-enactors, and a silent auction. It will also feature active service personnel from The Queens York Rangers who will bring an array of military hardware, including their reconnaissance "G-Wagon". May 24, 2015 Hike for Hospice Georgina 2015: Join us for a beautiful spring hike through The ROC, Pioneer Village, and Civic Centre campus. May 30, 2015 3rd Annual Cancer Recovery Co-Ed Slo-Pitch Baseball Tournament: Get a team together and let's play ball! This event is always a guaranteed home run with the Town of Georgina. Come out for some prizes, great local food, and some competitive fun for a great cause. August 15, 2015 Painted Perch Festival: Jackson's Point Village Association BIA will be hosting their 3rd Annual Painted Perch Festival in the Jackson's Point Parkette (Dalton Road and Lake Drive). It will be an afternoon and evening of fun and excitement for the whole family. The kids can enjoy games, crafts, face painting, and live music featuring lots of local talent. October 29, 2015 One Dark Night: Come and see what haunts Georgina through this interactive multimedia experience about Georgina's eerie past. The evening features local ghosts and chilling stories. October 31, 2015 Halloween Haunt - Halloween Ghost Walk: The Sutton BIA presents thrills and chills for ghost hunters young and old with a tour through the haunted nooks and crannies of Sutton (High Street, Sutton).

November 14, 2015 Keswick Santa Claus Parade: Dress up in your winter woollies and join us for this year's parade as Santa comes to town.
November 15, 2015 4th Annual One Stop Holiday Shop: Join GTTI for a one day holiday shopping event with a large variety of some of your favorite products. Time: 12 to 4 PM.
November 21, 2015 Festival of Lights: Enjoy the magic and splendour of the holiday season as we light up the Civic Centre grounds in this annual event. Take part in sing-alongs with Mayor & Council, a visit with Santa, and witness the unveiling of the lights. It's an event you won't want to miss! November 21, 2015 Old Fashioned Christmas: Kick off the holiday season by stepping back in time to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of a 19th Century Christmas. December 5, 2015 Sutton Santa Claus Parade of Lights: This sparkling parade starts at 5 p.m. in Jackson's Point, moving down Dalton Road to High Street then ending at the Sutton Fairgrounds.
