Deputy Mayor/Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler
Up until 1966, Danny Wheeler was a seasonal resident of the Town of Georgina, at which time he and his wife, Fran, settled in the Town permanently. Danny is
serving his tenth term on Municipal Council, having first been elected as the Councillor for Ward 4 from 1982 to 1988 and has been representing the Town of
Georgina as Regional Councillor since 1988, making him the longest, consecutively-serving Member of York Regional Council.
At the Regional level, Danny first joined as a member of the York Regional Police Services Board and was then elected as the Board's Vice Chair in 2003 until 2007, at which time the Board elected him to serve as Chair, a position he still holds. In addition, he is an active member of the Region of York's Planning and Economic Development Committee, Environmental Services Committee and Accessibility Advisory Committee, in addition to serving on the Town of Georgina's Equity and Diversity Committee, Georgina Health Care Committee and South Shore Community Broadband Committee. |
