Mayor Robert Grossi
Robert Grossi was first elected as a Ward Councillor in 1991, and then elected as Mayor in the 1994, 1997, 2003, 2006 and 2010 municipal elections.
With 5 terms to his credit, he is the longest-serving Mayor in the history of the Town of Georgina. Throughout these terms of Council, he was a
member of numerous committees at the Region of York, as well as sitting on many boards, including the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Foundation
and the Southlake Regional Health Centre's Board of Directors and on the hospital's Strategic Planning Committee. His education includes an Honours
Graduation Diploma (1972) from St. Michael's College School in Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics and Psychology (1975) from Brock
University in St. Catharines.
Currently, Rob is an active member of the Region of York's Transportation Services Committee and Finance and Administration Committee and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. In addition, he is the Chair of the Town of Georgina's Economic Development Committee, as well as a sitting member of the Georgina Agricultural Advisory Committee, Georgina Community Health Care Committee, Keswick Cemetery Board and Georgina Trades Training Inc. Before diving into politics, Rob held a number of positions, including owning his own tax consulting business and as a salesman and marketing representative for a number of international companies. Before moving to Georgina as a permanent resident, he was the driving force as an Executive Member, and then President, of the St. Michael's College School Alumni Association (1984-1989). He also helped in rejuvenating and managing the Parkdale Business Improvement Association as its President in 1982 and 1983. Robert Grossi has continued to reside in Keswick (Island Grove) since 1989, with his wife Carolyn, and their daughters, Jaclyn and Madelyn. |
