Expanded eligibility for fourth dose COVID-19 vaccinations

Effective Thursday, April 7, 2022, fourth dose vaccinations (second booster doses) will be available to individuals aged 60 and over as well as First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals and their non-Indigenous household members aged 18. The province has recommended an interval of at least five months (140 days) or at a minimum interval of at least three months (84 days) after receipt of a third dose for individuals 60 years of age or older.

Expanding booster eligibility will provide an extra layer of protection against the Omicron and BA.2 variants and in addition to antivirals, are another tool the province is using to live with and manage COVID-19.

Eligible individuals will be able to book their fourth dose appointment through the Ontario COVID-19 vaccination portal, participating pharmacies and participating primary care settings beginning Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 8 a.m.

York Region is working to update communications and york.ca related to fourth dose boosters for 60+; fourth dose vaccinations will be available by appointment only wand can be booked through york.ca/covid19vaccine beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Access York phone support will be available at 1-877-464-9675 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

York Region Public Health continues to respond to the pandemic and the COVID-19 vaccination needs of York Region residents. This includes the transition from large-scale vaccination clinics to smaller, community-based clinics with new clinic hours and locations to match our current demand for COVID-19 vaccines and allow important community services to resume at the previous location sites. The new sites are located in York Region offices.

Appointments for fourth doses can be made at york.ca/covid19vaccine through the following clinics:
