A heat warning has been issued for York Region. Environment Canada says temperatures today and Wednesday, June 10, will reach 30 to 34 C across southern Ontario as a hot and humid tropical air mass moves in. Humidex values will reach the mid-thirties this afternoon, then the upper thirties to near 40 on Wednesday afternoon.
High temperatures, high humidity, lack of shade and minimal air movement – both indoors and outdoors – can put your health at risk, causing heat-related illnesses. These illnesses range from minor heat rashes and muscle cramps, to hot weather emergencies like heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Visit York Region’s website for tips from public health on how to prevent heat-related illness.
