It’s the final long weekend of summer – Labour Day. It’s a busy time as parents and kids get ready for back to school. Before heading out for activities on the holiday, make sure you are aware of Town closures and other important information.
The Georgina Civic Centre and all Town facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, reopening for regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 3. This includes:
- Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre
- Georgina Gym
- Georgina lce Palace
- Georgina Leisure Pool
- Georgina Pioneer Village
- Georgina Public Library – all three branches
- Georgina Sutton Arena
- Stephen Leacock Theatre
- The Link *Link tenant office hours may vary
- The ROC Chalet (Admin office)
Waste collection information
There will be no waste, recycling or green bin collection on Monday, Sept. 2. Waste collection will be one day later for the rest of the week, starting on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Check the waste calendar or free Recycle Coach app for more information about garbage, recycling and more.
Residents are reminded they are only allowed to set off fireworks without a licence on Victoria Day and Canada Day, as well as the day before and after each of these holidays. To set off fireworks on any other day, a licence is required. Licences can be picked up at the Civic Centre or by calling 905-476-4301 to request an emailed application. Applications must be submitted in person. There is a $25 fee.
