LSRCA Board Makes Decision to issue Section 28 Permit for Maple Lake Estates
Georgina, ON – The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority Board of Directors voted today to approve a Section 28 Permit in relation to the Maple Lake Estates lands.
Georgina Council discussed the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority ‘Report No. 10-18-BOD, Maple Lake Estates (DG Group) Permit Application and Proposed Land Transfer, at a Special Council Meeting on March 22, and passed a resolution asking the LSRCA to exercise its mandate to conserve and protect the environmentally significant land and decline to issue a section 28 permit on the Maple Lake Estates Property.
Following today’s LSRCA decision, and in line with the resolution passed Thursday evening, Georgina Council will now meet Wednesday, April 4 at 9 a.m. with legal counsel for a closed session to review and consider all options at its disposal.
Twelve Board Members voted to approve today’s LSRCA report. As a result of voting on Georgina Council Resolution # C-2018-0116, which requested the LSRCA to decline to issue a section 28 permit on the Maple Lake Estate property, Mayor Margaret Quirk and Regional Councillor Naomi Davison recused themselves and did not participate in the Section 28 report discussion or voting based on their already established position to decline the permit application.
