In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Town of Georgina will hold a special flag raising ceremony at the Civic Centre on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. Flags will also be raised at Ravenshoe Road and Woodbine Avenue.
Mayor Margaret Quirk, Members of Council and Town staff will join members of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation for the flag raising event. Residents are welcome to attend at the Civic Centre for this event commemorating the tragedy of residential schools in Canada and their continuing impact on Indigenous communities.
