Continuing with its phased and responsible approach, the Town of Georgina is announcing the reopening of some additional amenities and facilities. These include the Georgina Leisure Pool, Georgina Ice Palace and all three branches of Georgina Public Library. Town facilities were closed to the public in March to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“We recognize many people are anxious to return to our popular programs and facilities. As we reopen our arenas, libraries, pool and other facilities, please remember it will not be business as usual. What you may have experienced before will be different going forward just like most things we are all adapting to. I would ask that you please check our website for all the details before visiting any reopened facility,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk. “It takes dedicated resources to plan and execute a safe reopening for residents, visitors and staff as well as having the required protocols in place for safe use. The safety of everyone in our community is our top priority and we will continue our measured approach to all reopenings.”

New safety procedures and protocols on how each facility operates have been put in place. Visitors planning a trip to the pool or library are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new protocols as the rules have changed, and will be enforced.
As with all reopening’s, residents are reminded to follow public health protocols when visiting facilities and amenities. Maintain social distancing when not with people in your social circle, wear a face mask when inside a facility, wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer, and stay home if not feeling well.
As the Town continues its gradual reopening, residents are encouraged to visit georgina.ca/OpenClosed for the status of Town facilities. Information on the reopening of other facilities will be communicated as it becomes available. For the latest information, news and updates on COVID-19 in Georgina, visit georgina.ca/COVID-19.
