It’s the unofficial kick off to the summer season – the Victoria Day long weekend. Before heading out for activities on the holiday, make sure you are aware of closures.
The Georgina Civic Centre and all Town facilities will be closed on Monday, May 20, reopening for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 21. This includes:
- Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre
- Georgina Gym
- Georgina lce Palace
- Georgina Leisure Pool
- Georgina Pioneer Village
- Georgina Public Library – all three branches
- Stephen Leacock Theatre
- Sutton Arena
- The Link *Link tenant office hours may vary
- The ROC
Waste collection information
There will be no waste, recycling or green bin collection on Monday, May 20. Waste collection will be one day later for the rest of the week, starting on Tuesday, May 21. Check the waste calendar or free Recycle Coach app for more information about garbage, recycling and more.
Don’t forget your permits!
Garage sale permits are free and can be obtained at the Civic Centre, any of the Town’s library branches or online at georgina.ca.
Residents are reminded they are only allowed to set off fireworks without a licence on Victoria Day and Canada Day, as well as the day before and after each of these holidays. To set off fireworks on any other day, a licence is required. Licences can be picked up at the Civic Centre or by calling 905-476-4301 to request an emailed application. Applications must be submitted in person. There is a $25 fee.
