A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is intended to improve a defined area within a community that has been identified as in need of revitalization.
Community Improvement Plan will articulate visions for Uptown Keswick, Downtown Sutton and Downtown Jackson’s Point, and establish a strategy for their revitalization, including the use of financial incentives for the private sector to stimulate redevelopment and facilitate property improvements. The purpose of this Community Improvement Plan for Uptown Keswick, Sutton and Jackson’s Point is to establish an environment that can support an evolution in the structure and image of these downtown commercial areas in Georgina. This evolution is necessary to ensure that they can all serve as assets for the entire Town, for their individual communities and to ensure that they achieve their potential to attract tourists and new businesses.
The Town of Georgina has released four CIP grant programs that business owners and commercial property owners within the designated CIP boundaries can apply for.
Facade Building Grant
The Facade Grant promotes the sensitive redesign of existing building façades to enhance the existing image of the area. All applications for this grant program will be considered subject to the availability of funding. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff, in consultation with the Economic Development Committee, Executive Committee of the Business Improvement Area and the Community Improvement Plan Committee (CIPC).
Heritage Building Grant
The Heritage Grant provides existing building owners/building operators with a financial incentive to improve the appearance of existing heritage building façades through work that, for example, conserves or enhances designated attributes, conservation of significant exterior architectural features, recreation of documented historical features, exterior painting in documented historical colours, Structural Repairs, etc. Program eligibility will be determined by staff, in consultation with the Economic Development Committee Heritage Committee and Executive Committee of the Business Improvement Area and the Community Improvement Plan Committee (CIPC).
Landscape Improvement Grant
The Landscape Grant promotes the establishment of enhanced landscaping, such as reconstruction of pedestrian pathways, sustainable landscape initiatives, and portable and permanent planters, to improve the existing image of the area. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff in consultation with the Community Improvement Plan Committee (CIPC).
Accessibility Improvement Grant
The Accessibility Grant promotes improved accessibility to existing buildings within Uptown Keswick, Sutton and Jackson's Point. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff in consultation with the Community Improvement Plan Committee (CIPC). Accessibility Improvements must follow the Accessibility Requirements in the Ontario Building Code in order to be approved.
Please Note: The Community Improvement Plan application must be submitted and approved before any work begins on your improvement project.
