World Alzheimer Month

Start Date

The Town of Georgina has proclaimed the month of September as ‘World Alzheimer’s Month’ and September 21st as ‘World Alzheimer’s Day’ throughout the Town of Georgina to recognize that more than 17,000 York Region residents who are living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and for every person diagnosed, another 10 to 12 people are directly impacted by this progressive disease that affects the brain.  This proclamation is to help reduce the stigma of a dementia diagnosis and show people impacted by this disease they are not alone.

In recognition of World Alzheimer Month and World Alzheimer Day, the Civic Centre and the ROC fountain will be lit up in blue on September 21st.
