Each Term of Office, the Town of Georgina Council invites community members to sit on the Georgina Property Standards Committee (GPSC) pursuant to the provisions of the Building Code Act to deal with matters related to the Town’s Property Standard By-laws and the Town’s Official Plan.
When the owner or occupant of a property in Georgina, upon whom an order has been served by a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, is not satisfied with the terms or conditions of the order, the owner or occupant may appeal to the Property Standards Committee.
The Georgina Property Standards Committee (GPSC), in hearing appeals, has all the powers and functions of the officer who made the order and the Committee may do any of the following things if, in the Committee’s opinion, doing so would maintain the general intent and purpose of the Town’s by-law and of the official plan or policy statement:
- Confirm, modify or rescind the order to demolish or repair.
- Extend the time for complying with the order.

Terms of Reference
The Committee's Terms of Reference outlines the purpose, general activities and membership responsibility.
The GPSC consists of a minimum of five (5) members who must be available to conduct site inspections of subject properties and be objective, possess relevant education components or equivalent experience and have an open mind in order to consider the evidence provided fully.
The length of term for a person appointed to the GPSC shall be for the Council Term of Office.
