The range of services provided through the Clerk’s Division include, but are not limited to: secretariat services for Council and Committees of Council; by-law preparation; business, lottery and marriage licenses; statutory obligations under the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Development Charges Act, Ontario Heritage Act, Vital Statistics Act, Marriage Act, Municipal Elections Act, Freedom of Information Act, and other pieces of legislation; officiating of marriage ceremonies, records management; provision of Commissioner of Oaths services; co-ordination and administration of certain legal files including land conveyances; and insurance and risk management.
The Municipal Law Enforcement Division is responsible for enforcement services by the Town. Some of the most common inquires relate to property standards, parking, noise, zoning (land use), aggressive or dangerous dogs and parks.
The Finance Division is responsible for coordinating and analyzing financial transactions, which include; payroll, accounts payable, banking, and revenues. In addition, this division facilitates and analyzes the annual budget, provides support to all divisions in regards to financial analysis, creates the year end financials in accordance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Board standards, and creates, implements and enforces internal controls and policies that will safeguard the Town’s financial assets.
The Purchasing Division is responsible for the sourcing and procurement activities for a large variety of goods and services required by the Town. Opportunities to do business with the Town are posted on our Bids and Tenders section of our website.
The Taxation, Revenue & Customer Service Division is responsible for establishing the Town’s property taxation, water and revenue policies with respect to revenue, maintenance and collection. Additional responsibilities include preparing and issuing property tax and water bills to all residential, commercial and industrial property owners; invoicing, accounts receivables, corporate cashiering, and revising and processing property assessment information received from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
Information Technology Services Division
The Information Technology Services Division is responsible for effectively planning, strategically implementing and continually supporting the appropriate and innovative use of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure used throughout the municipality. ITS also assists all divisions and departments in implementing, integrating and streamlining business processes and helping to maintain business continuity.
