No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes, or incur expenses, until that person has filed a Nomination Paper with the Town Clerk.

Nominations for the Office of Ward 1 Councillor may be filed with the Town of Georgina Town Clerk at the Municipal Offices, 26557 Civic Centre Road, Keswick from December 15, 2016 to February 9, 2017, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Nomination Day, February 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..   The term of office is until November 30, 2018.

A signed Nomination Paper (Form 1), a Declaration of Qualification by the candidate, and a filing fee of $100 (payable by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order) are required at the time of filing.

Nomination papers must be filed in person.  Faxed, electronic or mailed nomination papers cannot be accepted as original signatures are required on all election documents filed with the Town Clerk.

If the Nomination Paper is filed by an agent of the candidate, the Nomination Paper must be fully completed by the candidate prior to filing.  The Nomination Paper is available below.  Once the nomination papers are filed, the Clerk's Division staff will supple candidates with a Candidate Information Package and explain relevant processes to the candidate.
