Georgina Public Library and Milwaukee Tool form exciting partnership to benefit local community

Georgina Public Library (GPL) and Milwaukee Tool announced a new Tool Lending Library at a community sneak peek event during the Library Board Meet and Greet. This new initiative brings one of the biggest tool lending libraries in Canada right to community members seeking to build new skills and realize their most ambitious home and DIY projects.

Made possible through generous support from Milwaukee Tool, a subsidiary of Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. (TTI), the Tool Lending Library will provide eligible GPL cardholders access to a wide range of high-quality tools and related equipment for home projects, repairs and skill-building.

Milwaukee Tool is supporting the initiative by donating a collection of over 200 tools, including Milwaukee® cordless power tools, hand tools, accessories and outdoor power equipment, all showcased in a custom display. The collection will be housed at the Keswick Library Branch in the Georgina Ice Palace, where eligible library cardholders can borrow tools free of charge.

The Tool Lending Library builds on GPL’s commitment to providing resources that support lifelong learning, creativity and community connection. Lending will begin in late November.

This partnership is a continuation of Milwaukee Tool’s investment and support in Georgina. Earlier this year, the Town of Georgina welcomed Milwaukee Tool’s first Service Hub in Canada, a 54,000-square-foot facility that created more than 80 jobs in the community.

“This partnership is about our library supporting our community in practical, meaningful ways,” said Joe Moncada, CEO/Director of Library Services, Georgina Public Library. “Today, we are celebrating an initiative that gives residents the opportunity to broaden their skill sets, while completing home projects. We’re grateful to Milwaukee for its continued investment in the Georgina community and for helping us expand our library services.”

“We are incredibly honoured and excited to partner with Milwaukee Tool, a company that demonstrates a strong commitment to community investment and innovation,” said Bobbi Sabatini, Chair of the Georgina Public Library Board. “This initiative will inspire residents of all ages to create, build, and learn new skills, while advancing our Library’s vision of growth, discovery, and connection.”

“Our libraries continue to find innovative ways to serve our growing community, and the Tool Lending Library is a wonderful example of that,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk. “This initiative gives residents access to additional resources, while encouraging learning, creativity and the confidence to take on new projects. Partnerships like this demonstrate what can be accomplished when community and business work together to make Georgina an even better place to live.”

“As a board member of the Georgina Public Library for the past 16 years, I am excited to see this new service at our Library,” said Regional Councillor Naomi Davison. “Innovative programs like the Tool Lendery service will enhance the importance and contribution that our libraries make as a bridge to learning and community building.”

“I’m incredibly pleased to see this partnership grow from our initial vision to this announcement today,” said Ward 3 Councillor and Geogina Public Library Board member Dave Neeson. “Through collaboration and leadership, this new tool lendery service will be one of the largest in Canada and is a result of an historic investment by Milwaukee Tool in Georgina through their world class Service Hub. This investment in Georgina is a prime example of the progress that we have made in attracting investment in our Town and building on our goal of being an ideal place to live, work and raise a family.”

"When we opened our first Canadian Service Hub here in Georgina earlier this year, we made a commitment not just to Canadian tradespeople, but to this community. Donating tools to the Tool Lending Library is a natural extension of that commitment. We believe access to the right tools shouldn't be limited by budget or circumstance, and partnering with Georgina Public Library to put Milwaukee® tools directly into the hands of residents is exactly the kind of initiative we want to be part of. This is what it looks like to be a real neighbour," said Scott Moore, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Milwaukee Tool.
