On May 3, 2026, Endurance Event Productions Ltd. is hosting the annual Georgina Spring Fling Marathon. It starts and finishes at De La Salle Park. Events start at 7 a.m. and are planned to end by 2 p.m. on Lake Drive with clean up finishing at approximately 4 p.m. at the park.
The Town will be closing roads for the marathon. The westbound lane (closest to the lake) of Lake Drive will be closed from Brule Lakeway to 712 Lake Dr. N. for the participants of the races. The eastbound lane will be available for restricted one-way travel for local traffic only escorted by a Town vehicle.
Residents should limit travel or plan alternatives on May 3 due to event-related traffic disruptions. For safety, eastbound travel on Lake Drive within the closure requires a Town escort. Call 905-955-8436, wait for the escort and use caution around runners. When returning, access from Metro Road west of your home; a course marshal will arrange an escort at the north end.
There will be an increased number of escort vehicles available to minimize wait times. It is important not to drive on Lake Drive without an escort vehicle to ensure vehicle and runner safety. Emergency vehicles will have complete access to all portions of the closure along Lake Drive.
For north-south streets along Lake Drive that have access to Metro Road at the south end, residents must use the south entrance to enter and exit. The north end will be closed. Course marshals will be posted at all intersections along Lake Drive to provide guidance.
