A huge honour for the MURC! The Multi-Use Recreation Complex has been chosen as one of the 2025 Queen’s Park Picks by the Ontario Association of Architects. The theme this year was ‘Reshaping Communities’ and 55 submissions were received from 36 MPPs.
The MURC opened in March 2024. It is a state-of-the-art facility that offers programs and activities for all ages and abilities.
Designed with inclusivity and flexibility in mind, the building reflects Georgina’s lakeside identity with its cluster of sloped pavilions, evoking “tents around a campfire.” Anchored by a central heart with a cozy fireplace and starlit ceiling, the space allows for interaction between the aquatics centre, fitness facilities and the Discovery Branch Library.
