Join us for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event at the Georgina Civic Centre on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. The event will include speakers, smudging and a flag raising. The Town is holding this event in partnership with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day honours the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. It is a time to reflect on the lasting impacts of residential schools, listen to Indigenous voices and deepen our understanding of reconciliation.
Everyone is welcome to attend as the community comes together in reflection and in support of healing for Indigenous communities. Through learning and understanding, we can continue moving toward a future grounded in truth, respect and reconciliation.
