Town closures for the holidays, waste and recycling information, community resources

The Civic Centre will be closed from noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025 until Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, inclusive, with regular service resuming Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. 

For emergencies about animal control, roads, water or wastewater, call 905-476-4301 and follow the prompts to reach on-call services. For Municipal Law Enforcement, call 905-476-4301, ext. 3006. If the call goes to voicemail, leave a message and an officer will investigate. All other urgent matters during this time can be emailed to info@georgina.ca.

Waste and recycling

  • Recycling collection for Dec. 25 will move to Dec. 26, 2025.  
  • There is no recycling collection the week of Dec. 29, 2025.
  • Waste collection for Jan. 1 will move to Jan. 2, 2026.
  • Beginning Jan. 5, 2026, recycling collection will be bi-weekly.
  • During the collection week of Jan. 5 only, residents can set out overflow materials placed beside the cart in clear plastic bags or bundled cardboard.
  • There are no limits for this one-time overflow collection.

Christmas trees will be collected the weeks of Jan. 5, 2026 and Jan. 19, 2026, on your regular collection day. Visit georgina.ca/WasteandRecycling for more information and to view the 2026 waste and recycling calendar. 

Large-item collection
Beginning the week of Jan. 5, 2026, large-item collection will become a scheduled service on your regular garbage collection day. Schedule a pick-up by calling Green For Life (GFL) at 1-866-421-5625.
