Pickleball membership
This is a no-cost membership.
All drop-in pickleball participants playing at the MURC and/or Georgina Gym are required to sign up for the pickleball membership. As part of the process, participants must acknowledge the code of conduct.
Be sure to pick up your pickleball pass to secure your spot on the court.
How the membership works
- Clients will have a pickleball membership card that must be scanned first, before any payment is made.
- The scan will show staff whether the participant is a resident or non-resident.
- If the participant is a resident, they proceed to payment (cash, Rec Pass scan, debit, etc.).
- If the participant is a non-resident, staff will follow the drop-in timing rules. Depending on the time, they may need to wait to pay, as residents are served first.
- There is no monetary value associated with the pickleball pass.
- Wristbands will be provided at the MURC location for entry into the gym.
- Wristbands must be worn and visible at all times.
- Each member can choose to opt in to receive communication by email with updates about the pickleball programs
Resident and non-resident access
- Residents: check in 30 minutes before the scheduled play time
- Non-residents: check in at the start of play if space is available
2026 pickleball drop-in rates for MURC and Georgina Gym
Resident - senior (55+): $0.50 per hour
Resident - adult: $1 per hour
Non-resident: $2 per hour (starting Feb. 17, 2026)
MURC Gym Drop-in schedule and etiquette of play
For all pickleball programs at the MURC, the following procedures will be followed:
- Resident – check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled play.
- Non-resident – check in start of play if space available.
- Check in will occur with the front desk staff.
- Scan membership, receive wristband and pay entry fee.
- First matches will be determined at check in. Participants will leave their paddle with the front desk staff who will then fill the slots in the Pickleball Paddle Bucket, labelled for either Gym A or Gym B. First come first paddle.
- Recreation Facilitators (staff) will be on-site for the duration of the program and will be facilitating the flow of play.
- Staff reserve the right to remove participants who behave in a disrespectful manner or do not abide by the rules and code of conduct set out for the facility.
Georgina Gym Drop-in schedule and etiquette of play
For all pickleball programs at the Georgina Gym located at the Georgina Ice Palace, the following procedures will be followed:
- Resident – check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled play.
- Non-resident – check in start of play if space available.
- Check in will occur with the front desk staff.
- Scan membership and pay entry fee.
- Programs are played using the bucket system.
- Upon entry, place your paddle in either bucket at the entrance into the gym. You will be allowed on the courts at the start time of the drop-in activity, as per the schedule. Each game will be played to a winning score of 11 (or 9 or 7 points, depending on the number of participants that day). When your game is finished, place your paddle in the appropriately labelled bucket (first place or runner up) and you will then be directed to your next court. You cannot reorganize the paddle order in the buckets.
- Staff will assist with which players are next up on the courts.
- Staff reserve the right to remove participants who behave in a disrespectful manner or do not abide by the rules and code of conduct set out for the facility.
Etiquette of play
- Be respectful and courteous to each other. Bullying is not permitted.
- Obey the rules. To the best of your ability, players should attempt to
know and follow the rules of the game. Players are asked to self-monitor
game play in a positive manner. - Introduce yourself to your opponents and teammates.
- When ball goes out of bounds, yell "BALL" so that everyone on all
courts freeze. Retrieve ball promptly and then return to play. - Be honest about calling faults on yourself and partner. Be aware of foot
fouls and the non-volley zone (known as the kitchen). - Call the score before serving. This helps prevent disputes over the
score. - Respect court space. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid
encroaching on neighbouring courts. - Wait your turn. Bucket System is being used to organize next play.
- Report any concerns to Town staff. Any behaviour deemed
unacceptable by the Community Services Department will be addressed
and may result in removal from the facility and/or termination of building
use privileges.
