Lake Simcoe Shoreline Status - Low risk update

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that water levels in Lake Simcoe have dropped and are nearing seasonal ranges. The lake level still remains approximately five centimetres above average for this time of year. Rain is in the forecast and may place some upward pressure on the lake water levels.

Water levels are slowly receding and appear to be stabilizing near seasonal values. Recent rainfall produced only minor changes in the lake level. Rain is expected to begin later today and continue overnight into tomorrow, with total amounts in the 25-30 mm range and locally higher amounts possible where thunderstorms occur. This may place some upward pressure on the lake level.

The current forecast indicates southeasterly winds with gusts in the range of 66-72 km/hr, with locally stronger gusts possible in thunderstorms this evening and overnight. Given the declining lake levels, wind and wave impacts may be not widespread, however, given the lake level is still five centimetres above average, there may be some localized impacts.
