Town announces the launch of the Georgina Sports Hall of Fame

The Town of Georgina is announcing the establishment of the Georgina Sports Hall of Fame. This new program has been created to honour and recognize the achievements of local athletes and sports builders whose dedication and excellence have made remarkable contribution to sport within the community and beyond.

“The Georgina Sports Hall of Fame will serve as a lasting tribute to the athletes and builders whose achievements have shaped our Town’s sporting identity,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk. “The hall of fame will honour the people whose dedication to sport has built community, inspired excellence and proven the enduring power of sport to unite us all. Their legacy will live on in not only in records and victories, but in the spirit of teamwork, perseverance and pride that will continue to inspire future generations.”

This initiative will celebrate excellence, preserve sporting history and recognize individuals who have brought pride to Georgina through dedication, leadership and achievement. The Georgina Sports Hall of Fame will be showcased through a modern interactive display located at the Multi-Use Recreation Complex and a complementary web‑based platform, allowing residents and visitors to explore inductees’ stories, achievements and historic milestones in an engaging, accessible format.  A second mobile unit is also being planned that will move around to other facilities.

The Hall of Fame will induct individuals in two categories –

  • Athletes, who have demonstrated outstanding success in their sport
  • Builders, including coaches, officials, volunteers, executives and others who have made significant contributions to sport development

Nominations are open. The Town is accepting nominations for the inaugural 2026 induction year. For nomination eligibility, criteria and the nomination form, visit georgina.ca/HallofFame. The deadline for nominations is April 2, 2026 at 4:29 p.m. ESTCompleted forms may be submitted digitally or in hard copy.
