Town Council has proclaimed the month of September as 'Childhood Cancer Awareness Month' throughout the Town of Georgina to recognize the approximately 10,000 children in Canada living with cancer and the 1,500 new cases diagnosed each year, the critical need for medical, emotional and community support for affected families and honours the efforts of healthcare professionals, researchers, volunteers and organizations like Candlelighters Simcoe. It acknowledges the strength of young patients and their families and encourages ongoing awareness and support throughout the community.
