Join Southlake Health for a town hall on the future of care in Georgina

Georgina residents are invited to a town hall hosted by Southlake Health on Monday, June 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Link. Join us to learn more about Southlake’s plans to transform into a Distributed Health Network over the next decade.

Earlier this month, Southlake Health launched a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) to identify potential partners to develop a new Advanced Care Centre in Georgina – a cornerstone of Southlake’s Distributed Health Network.

Advanced Care Centres are community-based facilities designed to expand access, reduce pressure on hospital sites and improve the patient experience by delivering leading edge care, closer to home. The Advanced Care Centre in Georgina will help ensure residents receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. Learn more at georgina.ca/Healthcare.

Water Soldier

Water soldier

Water soldier is an invasive species that is showing up in Lake Simcoe. The population of water soldier in Cook's Bay is impacting the lake by reducing on-water recreation and poses a safety hazard due to the plant's sharp, serrated edges. The Lake Simcoe Water Soldier Working Group is asking everyone to help protect Lake Simcoe:

  • Clean, drain and dry watercraft and gear before entering a new waterbody.
  • Learn how to identify water soldier and report any sightings outside of Cook's Bay.
  • Avoid boating through aquatic vegetation, including water soldier.
  • If you're a waterfront landowner, learn how to safely pull and dispose of water soldier.

  • Don’t litter. Dispose of garbage in the waste receptacles.
  • No dogs are permitted in the beach area.
  • No fishing in the designated swimming area.
  • There is free parking for residents with a parking pass. For visitors, a valid parking ticket from a pay-and-display machine must be displayed.

Additional Residential Units

Thinking about building an Additional Residential Unit (ARU)? The Town has developed a guide to help residents understand the requirements, process and opportunities for creating an ARU. The program to provide grants and financial incentives for ARUs applies throughout the entire Town and is designed to help remove barriers to housing development. The Town permits up to two ARU(s) on a rural or residential lot. Learn more at georgina.ca/ARU.
