Start Date

Council for the Town of Georgina proclaimed the month of February as 'Black History Month' throughout the Town of Georgina to recognize the legacy of black Canadians, to provide an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the legacy, history and achievements that black Canadians have made and continue to make in our community and country.  This is also a time to recognize our shared responsibility to fight anti-black racism, reaffirm our commitment to equal rights, opportunity and freedom from discrimination.  This proclamation encourages our community to honour the rich heritage, diverse culture and invaluable contributions of black Canadians to our community.
