Bag tag exemption week Sept. 22 to 25
Bag tag exemption week is back! For the week of Sept. 22 to Sept. 25, residents can put out up to five items without tags. This includes large items such as a couches and mattresses. It does not include white goods (such as refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, dishwashers) or electronics.
Blue box transition
Changes are coming to Georgina’s Blue Box recycling collection. Ontario is in the process of transitioning to a new Blue Box system that aims to make recycling easier for everyone, with standardized materials accepted throughout the province. The goal is to make producers accountable and financially responsible for collecting and recycling the packaging and products they supply to consumers. Georgina will transition to the new system on Dec. 31, 2025. Stay tuned for updates on how this will impact you.
Parks are getting a fun makeover
Exciting changes are coming to some Town parks. At High Castle Park, the playground is getting a full refresh with new, colourful equipment designed for creativity, active play and community fun. The play space will be inclusive and accessible, so everyone can join in.
This fall, Jackson’s Point Parkette will undergo some enhancements to improve the community space encouraging more gatherings and events. Walkways will be redesigned to create an accessible, functional pathway system, all while creating more greenspace. Upgraded lighting and signage will make it an even brighter place to enjoy year-round.

Replacement Civic Centre update
The replacement Civic Centre project continues to move forward with steady progress. Electrical and mechanical work has reached the stage where drywall installation is underway. HVAC and ceiling services are also to the point that the ceiling drywall and bulkhead work is taking place. The exterior envelope is also progressing well and masonry work is now underway. The project is on track to achieve substantial completion by the end of Q4 this year.
Dirt Bikes
Dirt biking is fun — but remember, they aren’t allowed on Town roads, parks, trails or highways in Georgina. Violations may result in fines and other enforcement action. Stick to riding on private property with the owner’s permission and always gear up with a helmet and proper safety gear.

Leisure vehicle storage reminder
Unfortunately, winter is coming. As of Oct. 31, residents are reminded that seasonal storage of summer leisure vehicles on residential lots is not allowed. Snowmobiles or similar winter vehicles may be stored between Nov. 1 and March 31. Permanent storage of leisure vehicles may be permitted on residential lots that meet the requirements and setbacks provided in the regulations.
