Changes for Lake Drive this summer

The Lake Drive Improvements Project Phase 1 is set to transform this popular stretch of road. This summer, residents and visitors will notice changes as the Town implements a new seasonal multi-use pathway (MUP) on Lake Drive East from Civic Centre Road to South Drive. Pedestrians and cyclists will use the MUP in the north lane while vehicles will travel one-way eastbound along this same length of Lake Drive East. The changes to Lake Drive will be in place by the end of June. The improvements will greatly enhance safety for all using this route during the summer months – the busiest time of the year along Lake Drive.

A number of other streets will also be resurfaced including: Bayview Avenue, Royal Road, Boyers Road, Woodriver Bend and Golfview Crescent. Coming this year

A new playground for High Castle Park will be completed this year along with a revitalization of Jackson’s Point Parkette. A new AODA-compliant ramp and stairway will provide accessible entry from the Belhaven Hall parking lot to the baseball diamond. Blue box transition

Due to a provincial change, the Town will transition its blue box recycling program to Circular Materials. Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, producers will be fully responsible for providing Blue Box services throughout the province. This change will streamline the recycling of products and packaging throughout Ontario. Until this transition date, no changes to regular collection are expected. As more details about post-transition collection become available, they will be shared with residents.
