This fall, Georgina is the perfect place to experience the season. From cultural celebrations and festivals to a marathon and self-guided tours, there's something for everyone to enjoy. 2026 Municipal Election
Before you vote, make sure you're on the voters' list. If you need to update your name, address or other information, contact the Clerk's Division. To vote in person, you must be 18 years of age on Voting Day and bring identification, such as a driver's licence.
Advance voting opportunities
- Internet voting is available 24 hours a day from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 until noon on Friday, Oct. 23.
- In-person advance voting takes place on Oct. 10, 15, 17 and 20.
- All voting locations are physically accessible.

High Street construction
Construction is underway on High Street. Phase 1, from Dalton Road to River Street and West Street to Highway 48 (outside the Business Improvement Area) is expected to be completed in 2026. Work includes replacing aging watermains, upgrading stormwater infrastructure, and rebuilding the road with new sidewalks and curbs. Phase 2 is scheduled for spring to fall 2027. Lake Drive Multi-Use Pathway
The Lake Drive Multi-Use Pathway (MUP) will begin its transition of resuming two-way vehicular traffic the week of Sept. 28. The bollards will be removed in sections, and pedestrians and cyclists will need to be mindful of the changes, paying attention to signage. The work is expected to be completed by Oct. 2, 2026. Holmes Point Park and Jackson’s Point Parkette
Improvements are coming to the Holmes Point Park playground. Inspired by the park’s waterfront setting, the new playground design will use elements that reflect a connection to Lake Simcoe. As part of this project, the Town is enhancing accessibility throughout the playground. Visit georgina.ca/HolmesPointPark to learn more.
Exciting improvements are also taking place at the Jackson’s Point Parkette. This urban parkette will be rejuvenated, creating an inviting and welcoming outdoor space for the community. Changes include accessible pathways, open green areas, refreshed landscaping, lighting improvements and additional park seating. Learn more and stay updated at georgina.ca/JacksonsPointParkette.
2027 Budget
The Town is inviting residents to get involved in the 2027 budget process. New this year is the budget engagement platform which includes the Community Priorities Challenge. This provides residents an opportunity to distribute a fictional $100 throughout municipal services based on what matters most to them. Take the budget survey, it is open until Oct. 3, 2026. Strategic Plan progress report
The 2025 Strategic Plan Annual Report provides an update on how the Town is moving towards meeting its strategic goals. In 2025, significant progress was made toward achieving the Town’s goals with 82.4 per cent (56 of 68 initiatives) completed or progressed to their final stage, and 34 of 50 performance measures/indicators trending in the desired direction. Terry Fox Park
Join us on Sept. 18 for the official opening of the Terry Fox Park. Located in the new Orchid Trail subdivision at Woodbine Avenue and Church Street, the park is dedicated to the memory of Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. Park amenities include a fully accessible composite play structure, a river-themed splash pad that replicates his journey along the St. Lawrence River, a large shade structure, a walking path and an age-friendly fitness zone. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Join us on Sept. 30, 2026, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Town of Georgina, in partnership with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation will hold a flag raising at the Civic Centre. Flags will also be raised at Ravenshoe Road and Woodbine Avenue. Members of Council, dignitaries, Town staff and residents will join members of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation for this meaningful event. Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts
Tickets for the 2026/2027 season at the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts are on sale. There is an exciting lineup of shows including the Jim Cuddy Band, Tim Hicks, comedian Brent Butt and more. Tickets can be purchased on TIXHUB. Farm 911
In the event of a farm accident, every second counts. However, it can be challenging for first responders to locate people needing assistance without clear address markers. The Farm 911 Emily Project encourages property owners to apply for a civic address at the entrances of rural properties to improve emergency response times. The project’s Access Point initiative assigns yellow 911 property numbers to farms that do not have a designated green number. To learn more or apply, visit georgina.ca/Farm911
Back to school/Crossing guard safety
The kids are back in school and that means roads are busier with traffic and school buses. Let’s keep everyone safe by slowing down and watching for pedestrians crossing roads and in parking lots. Anti-littering campaign
Georgina is a beautiful lakeside community with parks and beaches for everyone to enjoy. The Town works hard to keep greenspaces clean and beautiful. Littering hurts the environment, puts wildlife at risk and creates unnecessary cleanup costs for the Town to clean up. Through the Cleanup Georgina initiative, residents can make a direct impact by participating in local cleanups. Dirt bikes
Dirt biking is fun, but remember, dirt bikes, including electric dirt bikes, are illegal on all Town and Regional roads, in Town parks and on Town trails. Violations may result in fines and other enforcement action. Stick to riding on private property with the owner’s permission and always gear up with a helmet and proper safety gear.
