Polybutylene Water Service Line Replacements

Overview

The Operations and Infrastructure Department maintains the Town of Georgina’s Keswick and Sutton Water Distribution Systems, including necessary preventative maintenance and infrastructure replacement projects.

Polybutylene water service connections installed in the 1980s have reached the end of their expected service life and are beginning to fail. These service connections need to be replaced to eliminate water leaks and reduce service disruptions. The Town has identified areas in Keswick where polybutylene water services were installed. The polybutylene services will be replaced on an annual basis.

Construction in 2024

There will be approximately 120 water service lines replaced on Bayview Avenue, Royal Road, and Love's Road in the summer of 2024. The construction is anticipated to commence in late September 2024 and be completed by December 2024. Notification of the start of construction will be sent, and signs will be erected.

Disturbances include typical construction noise, road and lane closures, limited driveway access, and temporary water shut-offs. Affected residents will be notified in advance of any disturbances.

Construction in 2023

There was approximately 100 water service lines replaced on Hollywood Drive and Tampa Drive in the summer of 2023. The construction was completed by mid-August 2023. Review the letter to residents below for further information.
