    Reporting sod damage

    Sidewalk plowing presented challenges throughout the winter as it is difficult to tell where the edge of the sidewalk is and when the ground is not frozen some sod damage may occur.

    Damage to Town sod, pavement and Town-owned trees will be repaired in the spring.

    Board recruitment – Keswick Cemetery Board

    Town of Georgina Council is inviting you to volunteer in the community as a member of the following board.

    Keswick Cemetery Board

    To provide information, advice and assistance to Council and staff of the Town of Georgina on the Keswick Cemetery Board. The Keswick Cemetery Board governs the operation of the Keswick Cemetery, located at 565 Varney Rd., in accordance with the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002.

    Spring load restrictions now in effect

    Each spring, from March 1 to May 15, half-load restrictions, five tons per axle, are in place on Town roads to protect their condition.

    Load restrictions are required when warmer weather causes roads to become soft. Vehicles travelling with loads larger than the limit travel on them could potentially cause damage.

    Town of Georgina to follow provincial regulations on lifting proof of vaccination requirements and capacity limits

    In response to the provincial announcement on Feb. 14, 2022, the Town of Georgina plans to lift some public health measures at indoor recreation facilities. Effective March 1, 2022, proof of vaccination will no longer be required and capacity limits will be lifted. Face coverings in indoor public settings and maintaining physical distancing remains in place, with exceptions for people participating in specific recreation programs.

    Watershed Conditions statement - flood outlook

    The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that warmer weather and rain is forecast for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Overnight highs for Tuesday are expected to climb to 9 degrees and will remain above freezing overnight. The forecast is currently calling for 20-30 mm of rain for Tuesday through early Wednesday.

    Town seeks volunteer for Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee

    The Town of Georgina is looking for a volunteer for the Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee. All appointments are for the 2018-22 Term of Council. Current Town board and committee members are encouraged to apply.

    Equity and Diversity Advisory Committee

    Purpose: To consult with the community and to provide information, advice and assistance to the community and Town Council relating to enhancement of community relations and promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusivity in the Town of Georgina.
