Town to begin street sweeping operations

Spring street sweeping operations take place each spring to remove winter sand from Town roads. Street sweeping occurs weekdays starting the week of April 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.

Residents are asked to sweep unwanted sand from their driveways and sidewalks, over the curb and onto the edge of the road for removal by the street sweeper. Avoid parking on Town streets when sweepers are working in your area to allow the equipment to properly sweep the roadway in its entirety.

New water and sewer rates take effect April 1

The revised 2022 water and sewer rates were adopted by Council on Dec. 1, 2021. The rate change represents a 5.84 per cent increase when factoring in both metered and capital charges over 2021 rates and is in effect for billings as of April 1.

This increase ensures revenue is provided for the operating expenditures for the water and sewer systems. In addition to the metered consumption rate, a capital cost recovery fee of $21.94 is included with each water and sewer bill. This fee is set aside for future capital expenditures for both the water and sewer systems.
