The Town of Georgina operates under a Ward Boundary system, whereby the entire municipality is divided up into five sections with each section being represented by a Ward Councillor.
While the Mayor Margaret Quirk and Regional Councillor Regional Robert Grossi are elected as representatives for the entire municipality, the Ward Councillors are elected as representatives of the residents in their Ward.
New ward boundaries for 2018 Municipal Election
On Sept. 6, 2016, Town Council passed By-law Number 2017-0093 (AD-7), authorizing a change in ward boundaries which will affect the 2018 Municipal Elections.
Then new ward boundaries affect residents in Wards 1, 2 and 3 and residents in these areas will vote for Ward Councillors as if the new ward boundaries were in effect. Residents in Wards 4 and 5 are unaffected by the new boundaries.
Beginning Dec. 1, 2018, Councillors will represent the wards in accordance with the areas shown on these maps.
