Fence Viewers

When neighbours cannot agree on the construction, reconstruction or maintenance of a fence, the Line Fences Act governs the arbitration process if necessary. This provincial law allows for three municipally appointed fence viewers to examine the land in question and hear submissions from the adjoining owners and/or their witnesses.

Learning that the proposed aerodrome on Old Homestead Road has been determined to meet the requirements of the federal government is not the outcome residents or Council were hoping for.

Council first learned of this proposed general aviation aerodrome as a result of a sign being posted at the site late in 2021. Like many residents, Council had many concerns with the proposal, citing environmental impacts, traffic, excessive noise and land use planning issues.

The Water Division has started sewer maintenance in order to prevent blockages and sewer backups. Sewer flushing is taking place in south Keswick between Old Homestead and Ravenshoe Road. The crew is taking every precaution possible to avoid any inconvenience but occasional toilet splashes may occur in locations with deficient plumbing. Ensure toilet lids are kept closed when not in use.

The Town of Georgina will allow the keeping of hens in urban areas in the community. After a successful pilot project, Council approved the Urban Hens licensing bylaw that will licence, regulate and govern urban hens. It also approved an amendment to the Exotic Animal Bylaw to recognize permission regarding the keeping of urban hens.

The Town of Georgina held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Multi-Use Recreation Complex (MURC) – the largest project in its history. Mayor Margaret Quirk, Members of Council, dignitaries and Town staff gathered at the site on the west side of Woodbine Avenue between Glenwoods Avenue and Ravenshoe Road for the sod-turning event.
