    York Region opening additional COVID-19 vaccine appointments

    The Regional Municipality of York is continuing to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals as quickly as possible.

    On Friday, June 25, 2021 at 8 a.m., approximately 38,000 COVID-19 vaccine appointments will be available to individuals age 12+ who live, work or go to school in York Region looking to book a first dose OR individuals 18+ who have received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 30, 2021 and wish to book an earlier second dose.

    Burlap giveaway on June 19, 2021 at Civic Centre

    Town staff will be at the Civic Centre roundabout on Saturday, June 19, 2021 to hand out free burlap between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

    Residents are encouraged to use burlap on their trees to help limit damage from Lymantria dispar dispar (LDD). The burlap will be given out on a first-come first-serve basis while quantities last. There is a two-piece limit per household.

    Statement from Mayor Margaret Quirk in response to Province’s Maple Lake Estates decision

    There is reason to celebrate in Georgina today. It is a day that I have dreamed of, and am so happy that it is finally here.

    Following decades of navigating the many twists and turns surrounding Maple Lake Estates, today the Province has announced its plan to provide the 360 hectares of developable land to the stewardship of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. This land will now be protected from development.

    Parking at waterfront parks expands in light of progress

    Coinciding with the province’s Roadmap to Reopen plan, and in light of progress being made with the vaccination rollout and COVID-19 case numbers declining, and the stay-at-home order being lifted, the Town is pleased to announce it is cautiously taking the next step in opening its waterfront parks. Beginning June 10, 2021 parking lots will be available to both resident parking pass holders and those without.

    Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook

    The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that conditions are ideal over the next few days for the development of severe thunderstorms. Showers with possible risk of thunderstorms may begin later this afternoon and continue through Wednesday.
