Residents required to remove all parked vehicles from Town roads when a ‘Winter Maintenance Event’ is declared
Amended bylaw allows Town snow plow operators to clear Town roads more efficiently

As a result of a significant winter storm, the Town of Georgina may declare a ‘Winter Maintenance Event’ which requires all parked vehicles to be removed from Town roads immediately and kept off until the declaration has been rescinded. This will allow the Town to perform snow removal, sanding and salting operations.

Ward 1 Councillor Naomi Davison selected to fill Regional Council seat for the Town of Georgina

Georgina Town Council has appointed Ward 1 Councillor Naomi Davison to fill the York Regional Council seat declared vacant following the passing of Danny Wheeler earlier this month.

Councillor Davison will fill the Regional Council seat for the remainder of the 2014 – 2018 municipal term.

Georgina Fire Department Draft Fire Master Plan Available For Review

In our ongoing efforts to ensure that we continue to meet the growing needs of the community we serve, the Georgina Fire Department created a 10-year Draft Fire Master Plan to help guide operational improvements and enhance our service.

The Draft Fire Master Plan is available for review at the Georgina Civic Centre, our three fire stations located in Keswick, Sutton and Pefferlaw; our Georgina Public Libraries and Club 55’s located in Keswick, Sutton and Pefferlaw.

Winter Scene Design Contest - November 1 to 18

Enter the Town of Georgina's Winter Scene Design Contest. Show us what winter in Georgina means to you. The contest runs from Tuesday, November 1 to Friday, November 18.

There are three Prize Categories: Elementary, High School, Adult. There will be three winners chosen in each category.

Designs should be between 4”x 6” and 8” x 10” using any medium you wish and must be a winter scene within Georgina.

At its 35th annual Conservation Awards ceremony held on Thursday, November 3, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) paid tribute to individuals, businesses and groups who are working selflessly to better our environment. Each award recipient is committed to positive environmental actions that contribute to a more sustainable and healthier watershed.

Aquatic Plant & Weed Information Session

Join us for an Aquatic Plant & Weed Information Session on Thursday, November 10, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Link in Sutton.

Representatives from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry will be giving presentations and be on hand to discuss issues facing the Lake Simcoe Watershed with topics of interest to Georgina residents.

Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler - Memorial Visitation and Service

A memorial visitation will be held in the Egypt Hall, 6756 Smith Boulevard in Pefferlaw on Thursday, November 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday, November 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  A memorial service will be celebrated in the Great Hall of York Region’s Administrative Building on Saturday, November 12 at 1 p.m.

Georgina’s Hodgson Trail officially opens to the public this Saturday, October 29
Neighbourhood trail features significant woodland and wetland areas

Members of the public are invited to join Georgina Mayor Margaret Quirk and Members of Council for the official opening of the Hodgson Trail in the Community of Sutton this Saturday, October 29, at 10 a.m.

The 1,000 metre trail that connects the residential neighbourhoods on Bramsey Street, Dr. George Burrows Parkway and Timberbank Square is now complete.
