The Economic Development Community Building Grant has been updated. The grant program provides financial assistance for programs and events that promote Town of Georgina to markets outside Georgina, generate economic opportunities for the local business community and provide for the betterment of the community. To take full advantage of the collaborative marketing provided by the Georgina Economic Development & Tourism Division, applications should be submitted six months prior to the event date.
Save the date, Bag Tag Exemption Week is September 18 to the 21. Georgina Residents can put five bags, items or containers untagged out for collection. Large articles (household non-recyclable items) are included in Bag Tag Exemption Week. Items such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and hot water tanks are not included. An enhanced budgeting process is underway at the Town. Council recently endorsed the latest update of what will be a series of Service Delivery Review Progress Reports.This 2nd progress update outlined enhancements to the 2018 budget process and timetable including: moving from short term budgeting to a long term multi-year Activity Based Budget Process, a Ten-Year Capital Forecast, phased-in Capital Budget for multi-year projects and an improved process for carry forward projects.
Great signs of accessibility progress at De La Salle beach! Construction of an accessible ramp which will link to our ‘Mobi-Mat’ are ongoing this month and into October. The Mobi-Mat, a universally accessible means of getting down to the water, was temporarily installed for a trial period earlier this year and will be permanently installed in spring 2018. In partnership with the Georgina Accessibility Advisory Committee (GAAC) the Town was able to secure funding for this exciting project through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
Town Council received its first annual status report on the progress made to date on achieving the goals and action items of Georgina’s Corporate Strategic Plan for the 2014 – 2018 term.
On September 6, 2017, Town Council passed By-law Number 2017-0093 (AD-7), authorizing an alteration of ward boundaries for the Town of Georgina. The changes affect Wards 1, 2 and 3. View the official notice on the electoral ward boundary review page or as posted below.

Tom Brown from CTV News will be the honorary ride captain for the 2nd Annual Georgina Mayor's Charity Motorcycle Ride on Sunday, September 10. Come out to help raise funds for Sutton Legion and meet Tom Brown!
The registration fee is $35.00 for bike & rider (+ $10.00 for passenger). The ride begins at the Sutton Legion with Registration, coffee and muffins at 9:00 a.m. Kickstands up at 10:30 a.m., and will then proceed along a 4-hour scenic route (with stops). The ride concludes with a BBQ back at the Legion with your choice of steak, chicken or vegetarian meal.
