A Message From The Georgina Fire Department - Fireworks Safety for the Canada Day Weekend

Fireworks are a lot of fun to watch and certainly add to the holiday weekend, but they are dangerous! The Georgina Fire Department recommends leaving fireworks to the professionals so that you and your family can enjoy a happy and safe long weekend. We’re hosting an amazing fireworks display tomorrow at The ROC starting at 10 p.m.

The Town of Georgina has CLOSED Malone Drive from Jackson's Point Avenue to Lorne Street until 10 p.m. tonight (June 29, 2016) due to emergency watermain repairs.

At this time we can expect the water service to be disrupted until approximately 7 p.m. View the full Service Disruption Notice.

Baseline Road - Between Woodbine Avenue and McCowan Road in the Town of Georgina

The Regional Municipality of York works continuously to maintain the condition of our regional roads for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. York Region is making improvements to Baseline Road between Woodbine Avenue and McCowan Road in the Town of Georgina.

Possible Canada Post Strike

Due to the possibility of a strike at Canada Post as early as July 2, 2016, Georgina residents should be cautious when sending payments for taxes, utility bills and other Town bills through the mail.

Property owners are reminded that property tax payments must be received at the Civic Centre by the due date to avoid penalties. Residents are urged to use alternative methods of submitting payment which include the following:

Georgina Farmers' Market Opens July 3

The Georgina Farmers' Market will be held on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting July 3 to September 25 at The Link (20849 Dalton Road). It will feature more than 30 vendors offering a wide range of local products including produce, meats, baked goods and crafts, all from local vendors. This community-run market gives consumers a unique opportunity to meet, get to know and support the people in our town and nearby communities who grow and prepare food.

NOTICE: Final 2016 Property Tax Bills are now in the mail.

Payment Options:

Payment can be made through the Town’s Monthly Pre-Authorized Payment Plan, telephone/internet banking, at most financial institutions, or in person by cash, cheque or debit at the Georgina Civic Centre.

Town staff have been informed by our contractor at the Lowndes Avenue Construction site that they have unexpectedly encountered a problem that necessitates that they continue drilling work throughout the night. To stop the work now could create a bigger issue with the drill becoming stuck in the rocks beneath the surface of the road. The Town and its contractor are working as diligently as possible to complete the necessary work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing and thank residents for their patience and understanding.

On July 1, 2016 new service fees will go into effect for various Fire and Emergency Services. This affects various types of fire inspections, responses, permits and administrative services.
