Healthy Kids Community Challenge Georgina launching a Water Does Wonders Facebook photo contest

Healthy Kids Community Challenge Georgina (HKCC) and the Town of Georgina are launching a ‘Water Does Wonders’, youth-focused photo contest on Facebook for the month of October (October 1 to October 31 inclusive). The contest is open to all Georgina residents but voting is open to the public.

There are two chances to win in this contest.

Anyone ages 12 to 24, who live in York Region, are invited to submit a design for Art the Park, a contest for young people to show off their artistic skills.

Do You Operate a Home-Based Business? Take Our Survey!

One of the Strategic Directions contained within the Town's Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan indicates the need to support the expansion of the existing business community. Research gathered throughout the process of developing the Action Plan, states that there are more than 2,000 owner operated businesses in Georgina, many of which operate from their home.

The Town of Georgina is currently undertaking a study to consider changing the existing zoning regulations which prohibits the private/personal storage or parking of leisure vehicles such as boats, campers, RV’s and snowmobiles at any time within the front-yard of any residential or rural zoned lots within the Town.

It is the last weekend before the start of a brand new school year. That means students crossing our roads or biking to school and school buses out in full force. According to the Province of Ontario, 824,000 students travel in about 16,000 school vehicles every day.

Town Council is seeking public input on the Province’s Co-ordinated Land Use Planning Review, including the 2016 Proposed Growth Plan and 2016 Proposed Greenbelt Plan.

Anyone is welcome to attend a Public Meeting at the Georgina Civic Centre on Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m., to present their views and comments to Council on this matter.

The Purchasing Department at the Town of Georgina is pleased to announce that on August 29th, 2016 we launched our fully-integrated online eProcurement tool in a phased in approach.  Phase I (1) allows vendors to view, register and download bids online.  Phase II (2) of the launch will be implemented soon and will include the ability for vendors to submit bids entirely online in one quick, easy and convenient location.

TAKE NOTICE the Town of Georgina will be hosting an open house on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Link located at 20849 Dalton Road in Sutton. The purpose of the open house will be to provide information related to the Town of Georgina Ward Boundary Review.

Further information regarding the content of the Ward Boundary Review will be posted on the Town’s website and included in the Wednesday, September 14, 2016, Council agenda packet.
