New swim program

Transition to Lifesaving Swim for Life Program

Starting with the summer session, the Town of Georgina will be moving from the Canadian Red Cross Learn to Swim and Lifeguard program to delivering the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program at the Georgina Leisure Pool.

The Canadian Red Cross recently announced it will be discontinuing its learn to swim and lifeguard programming throughout the country. The Town would like to thank the Canadian Red Cross for its partnership with the swim and lifeguard program, and wish them all the best as they direct more attention to humanitarian demands in other areas such as disaster and pandemic response, opioid harm reduction and caregiving for seniors.

The Town is pleased to welcome a new partnership with the Lifesaving Society and looks forward to facilitating the Swim for Life program to patrons. The Lifesaving Society is a respected organization that has long shared the Red Cross’s passion to reduce drowning and aquatic-related injuries. The Town is confident the water safety training needs of residents will continue to be well served by this new program. Residents will continue to receive the same quality of instruction and the same value for lessons.
