Strategic Initiatives

Strategic Initiatives is responsible for a dynamic mix of corporate and strategic services, including oversight of the following: 

Corporate Communications

This division works with Council and staff to share information with the public about Town programs, services and events, along with emergency and crisis communications, through the Town of Georgina web page, e-news, social and print media.

Corporate Strategy and Transformation

This division leads key strategic initiatives including the Corporate Strategic Plan, Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, Climate Change Action Plan and supports health and wellness facility/services expansion in Georgina, along with the Affordable Housing and Homelessness initiative. Further, it manages broadband expansion and the Town's grant funding applications and administration.

Service Excellence

Otherwise known as Service Georgina, is the customer service arm at the Town, responsible for a number of frontline services through various channels (in-person, online and by phone), including client queries, supporting public service requests, recreation bookings, payment processing, parking passes and internal communications for departmental emergencies.

Economic Development and Tourism 

Economic Development and Tourism is the division that works to strengthen and diversify the Town's economy. It has adopted a four-pillar strategy that focuses on the following key areas to fulfil this mandate:

Support for special capital projects

The Strategic Initiatives division is also responsible for supporting special capital projects, most significantly the construction of the replacement Civic Centre.
