As part of the Town of Georgina’s efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, permits will not be issued for yard or garage sales until further notice.
The move is being made to prevent large groups from gathering. Under the current provincial orders, groups of more than five people are prohibited.
Conditions for a Garage Sale:
- No person shall conduct more than three (3) garage/yard sales at the same location in a calendar year;
- Non-compliance of By-law 2002-0176(REG-1), or where a permit has been issued as a result of false or misleading statements or undertakings in the application, shall result in the permit being automatically revoked.
- All garage sale signs must be removed within twenty-four (24) hours of the expiry of the Permit. Signs are not permitted on utility poles.
- Items being sold must meet current safety standards issued by Health Canada. For a listing of items that should not be sold, please visit the Healthy Canadians website, or the Health Canada - Facts for Garage Sales Vendors web-page.
