About the funding
On March 3, 2025, the Government of Canada and the Town of Georgina announced that they had reached an agreement under the second round of the Housing Accelerator Fund. The Town will receive $5.8 million to eliminate barriers and accelerate the creation of 210 new housing units above the Town average over the next three years.

Initiative 1: Allow four units as-of-right per residential lot to support infill development in Georgina’s urban and serviced settlement areas

Initiative 3: Implement Development Tracking System to streamline development approvals process

- Launch and training for internal staff and external users (ie. developers)

Initiative 4: Expand delegation of authority to staff over certain development approvals

- Initiate Official Plan Amendment
- Draft delegated authority recommendations (e.g. holding provisions, temporary use bylaws, minor zoning bylaw amendments, etc.)

Initiative 5: Implement process to fast-track development and building permit reviews for priority housing types

- Promote updates to encourage residents to construct ADUs
